Windows Cannot Find Game Executable Error

If you're getting an error message when launching Spectre Divide that says "Windows cannot find <file path>" then it's possible you have anti-virus software installed that is interfering with the installation and or patching process.

Example:

If you're experiencing this error then you can try temporarily enabling passive mode within your anti-virus software (at your own risk):

  1. Temporarily Enable Passive Mode:
    1. AVG Anti-Virus
    2. Avast Anti-Virus
  2. Once passive mode is enabled you'll need to verify your game files in Steam:
    1. In your Steam library, Right-click Spectre Divide > Properties.
    2. Click the Installed Files tab and click Verify integrity of beta files.
    3. Once that's done verifying you can try launching Spectre Divide again.
  3. Once this is complete you can disable Passive Mode again.
