This error is generally a result of something on your computer or home network blocking your connection to Spectre Divide services. See below for an example of the error and troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue.
General Troubleshooting Steps
Try out these troubleshooting steps below if you're experiencing the above error message.
We've seen reports from some players that VPNs have been causing some issues with connecting to Spectre Divide services. If you have a VPN running on your system then you may consider disconnecting from it and disabling it while troubleshooting.
Additionally, if you have NordVPN Threat Protection Pro, some players have mentioned that disabling URL trimming resolves this issue. If you have Threat Protection Pro you can do the following:
- Open NordVPN and navigate to the Threat Protection Pro setting menu
- Uncheck "URL Trimmer"
Some players have mentioned that disabling a service called HTTPSDebugger.exe on their system resolves this issue. You can check if you have this service running by doing the following:
- Press the Windows Key + R.
- Type in services.msc and press ENTER. A Services window should pop up.
- Scroll through the list and try to find something called "HTTPSDebugger"
- If you find this service, right-click it and click Properties
- In the General tab find the Startup Type and set it to "Disabled"
- Below that, find "Service Status" and click the Stop button below that.
- Click Apply and OK
- Test in-game to see if this resolved your issue.
Third-party anti-virus/firewalls can, at times, unexpectedly block your connection to Spectre Divide services. You may consider adding an exception into your third-party firewall if you have one.
If you have Avira security software on your system, some players have mentioned that turning off Avira Security Web Protection resolves this issue. Other third-party security software may have similar settings, as well.
Some players may experience this error when connecting from a campus/school or other restricted network. This likely means that your network administrator has network settings to block/allow certain connection types.
What if that doesn't work?
If none of the above troubleshooting works, then you may consider utilizing a VPN application as a temporary solution if you have one available to you. Please make sure VPNs are legal in your jurisdiction before using one.
