Performance Troubleshooting

Restart Your Console

Restarting your console can help with a wide variety of issues, so it’s highly recommended you do this first if you’re experiencing any technical issues.

Input Delay

If you’re experiencing input delay on Console, then your TV or monitor may not be set up properly for gaming. Check your TV/Monitor’s on-screen display to see if it has a gaming mode, or something similar. This should improve input delay at the cost of lower brightness (on some displays) and or some display settings may be disabled, such as AI settings on newer TVs.

Additionally, v-sync may be enabled by default in-game or on your display. You may consider disabling v-sync in the in-game video settings and on your display. Please note that this may introduce in-game stuttering and or screen tearing for some players.

Some displays support VRB (Visual Response Boost) which reduces visual delay on-screen. If this option is available to you, you may consider enabling it to get a smoother in-game experience. Please note that this will likely come at the cost of image quality and brightness on your display.

Stuttering / FPS Drops / Screen Tearing

If you’re experiencing stuttering or FPS drops in-game then please double check that V-sync is enabled in-game and on your display (if applicable). This will cap your FPS but will likely resolve FPS drops and screen tearing.

Network Troubleshooting

Network issues such as disconnects, high ping, and or being unable to connect at all can happen due to a variety of poor network conditions. You can try the following network troubleshooting steps to help optimize your connection.

Note: If you’re playing on a game server that’s located very far away from you then you are much more likely to experience in-game network issues. You can change your selected game servers using the in-game region selector before queuing for a match so you’re only connected to servers located closest to you.

Xbox Login Issues

If you're experiencing login issues while on an Xbox, please try resetting your MAC address:

  1. Press the Xbox button
  2. Move right to the System Tab
  3. Scroll down and select Settings
  4. Scroll down to Network
  5. Select Network Settings
  6. Scroll down and select Advanced Settings
  7. Scroll down and select Alternate MAC Address
  8. Select the Clear button
  9. Restart your console to apply the changes
Power Cycle Your Router/Gateway

Sometimes your hardware needs a quick refresh to get back up to speed. Do the following to power cycle your router/modem (or gateway):

  1. Completely unplug your router and modem (or gateway) from power and wait around 1 minute.
  2. Plug your router and modem back into the power outlet and wait about 2 minutes for them to boot back up.
  3. Once your internet connection is re-established you can test to see if the original issue is persisting.
Ethernet Connection

Sometimes WiFi is a bit unstable and can cause disconnects, high ping and or packet loss. It’s strongly recommended to connect your console to your router using an Ethernet cable if possible.

Voice Chat Troubleshooting

Unplug and Replug Headset

As a first step it's hightly recommended to rule out potential hardware issues. Try unplugging and re-plugging your headphones to see if that resolves the issue.

  1. Open the in-game settings
  2. Go to the Audio tab

Use a Different Headset

If you're still experiencing voice chat issues after trying the above steps, then you may consider trying out another headset if you have one available to you.
